Granite Worktop Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1

Is any work, such as sink cut outs, draining grooves etc, of a high quality?

Answer

Yes, any work carried out is always to our usual very high standard. There are not any shortcuts on quality as far as we are concerned.

Question 2

If I want a granite worktop to run over 3 metres, will I need to have a join?

Answer

Unfortunately yes! However, we do try to make ours, as neat as possible!

Question 3

Would you deliver and carry the worktops into my kitchen, if I am fitting myself. Also how much would it cost?

Answer

Yes we could by special arrangement as long as you are within our main delivery areas. We would expect you to provide at least one strong willing pair of hands however. The charge for this service would vary according to distance and size of your sections.

Question 4

What do you mean by exact templates?

Answer

A board that mimics the finished worktop, that is exactly the same size and shape as a finished section of worktop. It must have good edges, and exact holes if there are any, it must not be effected by water, tear or fray. Plywood or best grade hardboard can be used. We can provide the plastic material we use, but we charge for this.

Question 5

What if my template is not very good?

Answer

Please note if your template is not good enough, either you take the risk that the worktop may not be correct, or do it again. Best do it again. Sorry!

Question 6

Will you template for me, and I still fit?

Answer

Normally no. If we Template we also fit, if we fit we also template. But we will with conditions. The main one being that if you are to fit then we take no responsibility for what you may regard as template or measure errors. We usually find that such errors are fitting mistakes and not template errors. Clearly we do not want conflict between us, hence our conditions. If we template and fit we then of course take the responsibility.

Question 7

When and how does templating take place?

Answer

We produce a leaflet on templates called "Templates, what, when and how" Please ask for one as it gives important information.

Question 8

Are there any colour or other differences between worktop sections?

Answer

Granite is a natural product. Colours markings etc, may vary between pieces or even in the same piece, you should regard such as part of the granites natural beauty. We cannot guarantee a perfect match between lengths.

Question 9

I know I save money with the Abmar worktop system, but are there any real drawbacks?

Answer

There are no serious drawbacks in our opinion, other than the obvious, less choices in granites, sizes and additional works available.
